One of the most exciting parts of the National Corn Growers Association's Nourish the Future program is the Teacher Leader Community, a specially-selected national group of educators that focus on gaining knowledge and sharing their expertise with a wider audience. This group gathered in St. Louis for the Teacher Leader Community Conference, a four-day program filled with education and fun.
The teachers participating in this year's program have met virtually through webinars, but this was the first time we've all been together in real life! Starting with a welcome reception, activities included a full-day workshop to become familiar with the NTF curriculum, a farm dinner with industry experts, a tour of Melvin Price Locks and Dams, and dip-netting for macroinvertebrates at the Audubon Center at Riverlands.
On the final day, the group spent time collaborating on ideas for new curriculum for the website. Working individually or in small groups, the teachers brought their own unique background knowledge and classroom experience to the table, providing invaluable perspectives and inspiration.
